The four things people ask first.
No card is needed. The free plan is 3 lessons in total — 10 minutes each, with the live board and real-time speech. It is a lifetime trial, not a weekly allowance: the lessons are yours whenever, and they do not reset.
Tell it your board and it teaches to it. The courses checked line by line against the actual specification — reviewed teaching packs covering 471 objectives — are eight AQA and Edexcel qualifications: Edexcel GCSE Maths Higher, AS Maths and A-level Maths, and AQA GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics Higher plus AS and A-level Economics. On any other board or subject it will still teach the topic; the packs are simply the part verified against the spec.
No. Revision is not assessed, and no exam board has ever had a rule about how you learned something. The rule is about authorship: work you submit under your own name has to be yours. Lumi is built to explain and to check the explanation landed, not to write the thing you are about to hand in. Coursework and non-exam assessment are where the care is needed, and your school's own policy sits on top of the exam boards'.
ChatGPT also offers study and voice features. Lumi is a dedicated lesson: a live board it draws on while it talks, your own past papers and working as the material, homework it sets and marks, notes, flashcards or a mind map it can leave from the lesson, and a memory of how you learn that carries between lessons. The useful comparison is whether that flow helps you understand and practise your topic, not whether another assistant can explain it.
